From Ocean Systems to Organisational Resilience.
What can a kelp forest and marine ecosystems teach us about resilient organisations?
Our experiential learning sessions use your local marine environment and kelp ecosystems as a lens for exploring systems thinking, resilience, connection, leadership and action. Participants experience the ocean on the shore or in your office, reflect on what they notice, explore the pressures and relationships within a complex system, and then apply that thinking to their own organisation.
The ocean can be understood in many ways. We create space to explore different ways of seeing and knowing, including marine science, community knowledge, Te Ao Māori and mātauranga Māori, and consider how these perspectives can deepen our understanding of place, relationships and resilience.
Sessions can explore:
- ecological and organisational resilience
- systems thinking
- leadership, adaptability and personal skills
- paying attention, building connection and agency
- turning knowledge into action
The sessions can be adapted for teams, leadership groups and boards, from a focused 60-minute experience to a deeper half-day workshop or consecutive sessions. Our programme builds directly on Explore Your Coast’s experiential learning approach of moving from experience and reflection towards understanding and creating the motivation to apply insights to action.
